Ronald I. (Woody) Woodmansee, CLU, CEBS, MSFS began his insurance practice in July of 1982, immediately following his graduation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his studies as an insurance major, Woody played varsity Sprint Football and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Insurance is in his bloodlines, having been licensed since the age of 17 with his dad’s agency in southern Rhode Island, where he grew up. Woody earned his CLU and ChFC designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1985 and his Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation from the International Foundation for Employee Benefits in 1995. In 2001, he returned to the American College to earn his Master’s Degree in Financial Services (MSFS).
Woody’s practice focuses on two areas. The first area of expertise is life and disability income insurance for both personal and business needs. He simplifies the life and disability income insurance buying process by educating his clients with easily understood concepts, followed by long term follow up and diligent customer service. His assistant, Alice, has worked with him since 1983.
The second half of his practice focuses exclusively on employee benefit plans for small companies, ranging from start-up to approximately 50 employees. Woody works with business owners, executives, professionals, and their employees to design and implement programs and educate them on their company benefit plans, as well as how these plans also relate to their personal insurance planning needs.
Woody is a published author, having written numerous articles for a variety of local and national organizations regarding life and disability income insurance and employee benefit planning. He proudly contributed to the 8th edition of the Employee Benefits Handbook, a textbook used in the CEBS curriculum, having written a new chapter on small company benefits.
Woody is a proud perennial recipient of the insurance industry’s National Quality Award for individual insurance, and every year since 1988. In 1997, The Philadelphia Business Journal recognized him as a 40 Under 40 award winner.
He is as passionate in the community as he is towards his business. Woody serves on the House Corp of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Penn and has been an active member of the Union League of Philadelphia since 1984, having recently served for 3 years as the Chair of the Good Citizen Day Committee, which works with Philadelphia area youths. He is now on the new member welcoming committee.
As a prostate cancer survivor, and with cancer on both sides of his family, Woody is very dedicated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Marlton. He has been actively involved in planning and has been a leading fundraiser for this fabulous community event since 2011, which has raised over $1.3 million in the last 10 years, having personally raised over $125,000.
Woody resides in Marlton, New Jersey with his lovely wife, Lynn, who is a top realtor and Circle of Excellence winner in South Jersey. Between them, they have 5 grown children and 2 grandchildren.
