Bruce H. Sham, CLF, has dedicated his financial services practice of 4 decades to working with families with special needs. His mission is to help families navigate through the difficult process of accessing resources and valuable government benefits for their children and aging family members.
He has been awarded many honors and citations from organizations and the Commonwealth. He won the Advocacy Award from Montgomery County MHMR for Exemplary Service and the Timothy C. Flanagan, CLU, ChFC Stewardship Award for Community Service. He also received the Wendy Cohen Advocacy Award and the Ricky Godorov Key Day Award for his dedication and service to individuals with disabilities through the Association of Adults with Developmental Disabilities. His most recent accomplishment was receiving the F. Karl Schauffele Community Service Award from The Main Line Chamber of Commerce.
He continues to serve on the board of directors for the Association of Adults with Developmental Disabilities and Access Sports Experiences and sits on the Advisory board for the Philly Friendship Circle. Bruce, through his work with Access Sports Experiences, works with the local sports teams to provide educational and therapeutic programs for individuals with disabilities.
Bruce is a sought-after speaker for local schools, non-profits, religious institutions, and has appeared as a platform speaker for the World Congress for Individuals with Disabilities, Williams Syndrome Foundation, Epilepsy Foundation, The Brain Injury Association, DuPont/Nemours Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Center for Autism Research, University of Pa. Neurology department for Huntington's Disease, Alzheimer’s Association, NAMI, and Mental Health Partnerships.
During the pandemic, he facilitated and participated in a number of virtual workshops for local parent support groups and continuing care facilities, as well as the Chester, Bucks, and Delaware County Bar Association and Estate Planning Councils.
Bruce and his wife, Hilde, are the founders of the Amanda Sham Resource Center for Children with Special Needs at the Old York Road Temple Beth Am in Abington, PA. This is a nationally acclaimed program that has serviced hundreds of children over the years, regardless of their learning differences or ability to pay. Bruce continues to volunteer his time at the Resource Center every Sunday morning.
