Bala Cynwyd, PA. – October 18, 2017: According to a recent survey, Americans’ top financial concerns involve their Income, Savings, Retirement and Debt.1 This makes sense when you consider the following: Many of us have trouble making ends meet. In fact, almost half of Americans (47%) live paycheck to paycheck.2 We often don’t have a cushion to fall back on if something unforeseen were to happen. 70% of Americans don’t have enough emergency savings.2 Many Americans aren’t saving enough for retirement. Median retirement savings of working-age families is only $5,000.3 And many of us are in debt and don’t know how long it’ll take to dig ourselves out. The average bachelor’s degree will take 21 years to pay off.4
To address these common concerns, MassMutual Greater Philadelphia is hosting its first annual Financial Literacy Summit: A Day of Dollars of Sense. This all-day series of workshops is designed to connect members of our community while providing valuable financial education. MassMutual Greater Philadelphia advisors and community guest speakers will present on a variety of topics for small business owners, professional women and parents seeking information on funding their children’s education.
Guest speakers include: Christina Reger, Shareholder, Bazelon Less Feldman; Brian Martin, Director of Customer Success, BizEquity; Nelly Arnold, Principle Designer, personal | space; Megan Gray, Senior Project Manager, Albrecht Events; and Brian Walters, Senior Vice President, Business Development & Strategy, GradFin. MassMutual Greater Philadelphia advisors include: Joseph W. Murray, CLU, ChFC, CFBS, Senior Vice President; Teresa M. DeVries, CFBS, Financial Advisor and Fred Horrocks, CLU, ChFC, Managing Associate.
“From the beginning, we’ve had a single purpose: to help people secure their future and protect the ones they love. For 131 years, that commitment has remained our guiding principle, for our clients and our community,” states Harris Fishman, president and CEO of MassMutual Greater Philadelphia.
“In the Greater Philadelphia community, we’re more than a financial services firm,” explains Cynthia St. Pierre, Vice President of Marketing. “We’re neighbors, colleagues, parents and friends. And we believe we can help our community become a better place to live, work and play.”
