Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House receives $10,000 MassMutual Foundation Grant

Bala Cynwyd, PA. – The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, has received a $10,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House is one of twenty-two organizations nationally to receive an award. The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Sam Christie, an advisor with MassMutual Greater Philadelphia.

“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation. “We are proud of the time and energy Sam dedicates to better his community and delighted to support the great work MassMutual financial professionals do with organizations across the country.”

The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community of comfort and hope. Their programs include two Ronald McDonald Houses, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Ronald McDonald Camp. The two Ronald McDonald Houses offer temporary lodging and an array of supportive services, just minutes from the hospital and at little to no cost to the families themselves.

“We are only able to serve these families with the dedication of volunteers, and the support of donors, whose funding makes it possible for us to realize our mission,” states Chris Callanan, Director of Events and Corporate Development for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. “We are honored to have Sam’s ongoing support. We cannot thank him enough for all that he continues to do for the families we serve. It truly makes a difference.”

Sam started his career with MassMutual Greater Philadelphia around the same time that he got involved with the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House and has dedicated countless hours of time and talent to help the organization grow and flourish.

“I am very excited that my dedication to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House has been recognized by the MassMutual Foundation,” said Sam. “This grant will provide much needed funding that makes it possible for PRMH to alleviate families' burdens and provide them with important supportive services, as well as fun, memorable experiences during an extremely difficult time.”
