Bala Cynwyd, PA. – Access Sports has received a $10,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. Access Sports is one of twenty-two organizations nationally to receive an award. The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Bruce Sham, CLF, Special Care Planner and advisor with MassMutual Greater Philadelphia in Bala Cynwyd.
“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation. “We are proud of the time and energy Bruce dedicates to better his community and delighted to support the great work MassMutual financial professionals do with organizations across the country.”
Access Sports Experiences, founded in 2002, has created over 165,000 memorable sports experiences for special needs children and adults. The mission of Access Sports Experiences is to provide multi-dimensional sports experiences through event attendance, interactive clinics and educational seminars in order to bring opportunities to disadvantaged populations and knowledge of sports related topics to all individuals. Through strong partnerships with all of the professional sports teams in the Greater Philadelphia region, Access Sports Experiences helps to transform special lives through sports experiences.
“We are honored to have received this grant from the MassMutual Foundation and are so grateful to Bruce Sham for his dedication to our mission and to the Special Needs/Disability community,” states Alyson Harris, Founder and Director of Access Sports. “We are looking forward to expanding our reach to the hundreds of social service organizations and families on our waiting list and helping to transform even more lives through sports experiences.”
“I am very pleased that my dedication to the Access Sports has been recognized by the MassMutual Foundation,” said Bruce. “This grant will allow Access Sports to continue sharing the power of sports and how transformational being part of a team can be. Everyone deserves to be included as part of the team: as a spectator, a participant, as a valued member of our world.”
