Joseph W. Murray is an Executive Vice President and Director of Business and Estate Planning at MassMutual Greater Philadelphia, a 130 year-old financial services firm located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. He joined the firm in 1989 and has remained committed to his practice while continuing to mentor new associates and oversee the firm’s Business and Estate Planning department.
Joe’s passion is in serving the complex needs of business owners and high net worth clients. Business owners work extremely hard and make many sacrifices to grow their businesses. Joe believes that it’s important to put the same amount of energy into protecting the business as there was in building it. For many business owners, the primary, over-arching mistake is a failure to effectively plan, whether that means failing to have a formal business succession plan in place or underestimating the importance of a retirement income strategy. Joe helps them identify the avoidable missteps that often trip up businesses, create issues for owners, and can stand in the way of continued, long-term success. To better serve his clients, Joe holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Certified Family Business Specialist (CFBS) designations.
Joe’s compassion for serving others extends far past the office as he firmly believes in serving his community. He is actively involved in a number of charitable organizations; including Chosen 300, Urban Youth Racing League and the Make a Wish Foundation. His experience in the financial services industry had led Joe to become a much sought after public speaker and is a regular on-air contributor to Fox and ABC TV, providing financial commentary to their viewers. Additionally, Joe’s wit and humor make him a favorite presenter for business owner workshops, where his high-speed delivery evokes the everyday fast pace of the real business world.
